Sir, my guess for the ALFI prefix in alfisoil is "AL"uminium "F"errous containing soil.
Sir I have a doubt. In high rainfall region laterite soil is more and we know that. For example let's take Western ghats which receives high rainfall. My question where the accumulation of laterite soil is high? On top of the mountain or at foot hills?
