    I’m a new subscriber, American, from San Francisco. If you’re interested, here’s my stats: I’m female, 61, and retired early because of a disability. I am an Environmental Geologist and spent my career working for a large international engineering company, also here in SF, for both corporate and agency (USEPA, etc.) clients. I loved it and was devastated to be forced to leave it prematurely because of my health. I have gradually adjusted to my new physical ability level, and I replace the intellectual stimulation of my career with lifelong, daily learning in topics I felt I didn’t have enough time to spend on previously, despite 6 years of university: geography, history, biological science, and others. I also like to take virtual math, physics and chemistry classes to keep up these basic scientific skills. Thanks for your wonderful work.

    just to add a point. Ritter was famous for his "Unity in diversity" principle. where both physical and human component of the environment established their interrelationship with each other.
